A Large Network of Leaders on La Gonave
Rasin Devlopman has built an active network of trusted leaders from around the island that are working together to address La Gonave’s needs. Rasin knows and works with most of the elected officials on the island and regularly brings leaders on the island together to exchange ideas and find solutions to problems they are facing in their communities.

Stronger Leadership and Greater Local Capacity
Rasin Devlopman’s ongoing workshops and trainings have strengthened the leadership skills and management capacity of La Gonave’s leaders. This capacity has led to more organized communities, a greater understanding of (and commitment to) community-led development, and an increase in the number of development inititiaves being implemented on the island.

Rasin Devlopman’s efforts on La Gonave have led to a diverse number of projects being carried out on the island every year. The projects not only give leaders an opportunity to practice their leadership and project management skills, but they are directly improving quality of life on the island.

New Partnerships for the Island
Rasin Devlopman has brought new partners to La Gonave who have helped increase opportunities and diversify the development efforts taking place on the island.
PADF
The Pan American Development Foundation worked with the commune of Anse-a-Galets to develop its first Communal Development Plan (CDP).
The New School
The New School (Parsons School of Design) worked with the mayor’s office and several communities on the island to install solar lighting systems.
CLE Haiti
CLE Haiti has provided workshops and trainings, and helped fund various community-led development initiatives on the island.
ECSSA (4ocean)
ECSSA, and its partner 4ocean, established a plastics collection center on La Gonave to remove and recycle plastic waste.
Ability to Prepare for and Respond to Emergencies
With Rasin Devlopman being based on La Gonave and its large network of leaders, the organization has been able to quickly mobilize local resources and provide emergency aid.
COVID-19 on La Gonave
In 2020, Rasin Devlopman helped prevent the spread of coronavirus on the island by installing 90 handwashing stations and distributing over 2,000 reusable masks.
Rasin helped fund a COVID-19 center to receive and treat ill residents and organized the painting of 9 permanent murals aimed at confronting stigmas related to the virus and promoting good hygiene practices.
